5. Investigating the interplay between gender experiences and bodily changesacross the perimenopausal years
Host
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
Duration
36 months
The research
This project investigates how gender experiences (such as gender identity, gender contentedness, and social gender affirmation) change across the perimenopausal years and how these shifts relate to bodily changes commonly occurring during this period. Using validated measures within an ongoing three-year prospective cohort study of 300 participants, the project will map longitudinal patterns in gender experiences, analyse their interconnectedness with perimenopausal symptoms using advanced statistical methods, and develop educational materials to support people transitioning through perimenopause.
