Elske Hoornenborg is an internist-infectiologist and head of the Center for sexual health of the Public Health Service of Amsterdam.

At the Center for sexual health, professionals provide sexual health services for key populations, including trans persons, living in Amsterdam and surrounding municipalities.

She also works as HIV treating physician at DC clinics in Amsterdam.

In 2020 she obtained her PhD in epidemiology for her research into the introduction of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in the Netherlands. 

Her fields of expertise are prevention of HIV, providing services with and for key groups, clinical and societal impact of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, and prevention, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including viral hepatitis and mpox.
